For a fictional horror film festival titled "VOID," I designed a three-part poster series in which the visual concept was deliberately geared toward a subtle yet intense effect. Unlike classic horror posters, which often employ overly charged images and explicit depictions, my approach was pared down, graphically clear, yet disturbing.
The festival theme—"VOID," meaning emptiness—set the tone for the content: It's about the uncanny in the invisible, the horror in silence, and the unknown in the space between. The posters were intended to raise questions rather than provide answers. White space was used as an active element to leave room for speculation and interpretation. I deliberately worked with associations with injuries, wounds, or eye shapes—design cuts that not only create tension but also suggest narrative depth.
The limited information – festival name, date, location – was deliberately presented sparingly and discreetly to leave room for visual impact and draw attention to the overall picture.

The three posters use cut shapes reminiscent of wounds or eyes – threatening yet organic at once. Strong contrasts, shadow gradients, and grainy noise create a dark, cinematic atmosphere. The typography remains minimal and deliberately placed, often as if cut into the image or embedded in a whisper. The generous white space reinforces the theme of emptiness and leaves room for interpretation. Thus, horror is communicated not loudly, but silently – but all the more hauntingly.

---
The logo takes up the motif of the cut shapes – reduced, sharp, and ambiguous – and combines it with the minimalist typography of the festival name. The T-shirts further showcase this design: subtle on the front with the logo as a trademark, loud on the back with the typographic VOID lettering as a strong visual statement. The identity deliberately plays with contrasts – subtle vs. bold, surface vs. emptiness. Thus, the festival's visual concept can also be experienced as a wearable design, transporting the atmosphere of "VOID" directly into everyday life.
